Learn moreWhy do San Diego homeowners and drivers pick Swift Key?
San Diego locksmithing runs the full range — Coronado salt-air corrosion on 60-year-old cylinders, Poway restricted-keyway systems, Oceanside rental turnovers, Julian cabin antiques. We know the hardware, the county, and the jobs that come with it.
- A real locksmith on the phone. No dispatcher in another time zone. You talk to someone who can tell you whether your lock needs a rekey or a replacement before we roll the truck.
- Upfront pricing, no surprises. You hear the price before we start. No bait-and-switch, no mystery line items, no mileage upcharge.
- No drilling on standard residential locks. We pick, bump, or decode most locks open. Drilling is a last resort — when the lock is already broken or high-security with no faster option.
- We answer after 5 p.m. Real 24/7 mobile response. Ring once, get a human — typical arrival 20 to 40 minutes.

What homeowners across the county say
Locked keys in the car at Target parking lot on a Sunday afternoon. Called and the tech was there in 25 minutes. Used some kind of inflatable wedge and a rod — no damage to the door. Paid what they quoted, no surprises.
Just bought our first house and wanted all the locks rekeyed. Four doors, keyed alike, done in under an hour. The tech explained everything and even showed us how a rekey works. Way cheaper than replacing all the locks like we thought.
My late father's safe had been sitting locked for ten years — we had no combination. Swift Key opened it non-destructively, then helped me change the combo so I could actually use it. Took about 90 minutes. Professional and careful with the safe.
Lost the only key to my 2018 Honda Pilot. Dealer quoted $450 and said they needed to tow it. Swift Key came to my driveway, cut the key, programmed it, done in 50 minutes for $280. Tested everything before leaving.
Got a Schlage Encode installed on our front door. They set up the app, added codes for both kids and our dog walker, showed us how to see the activity log. Checked that the strike plate was aligned so the motor wouldn't eat batteries. Really thorough.
Midnight lockout after flying in from Denver. Called and got an actual person on the phone — they gave me a realistic ETA and showed up inside it. Door open in under five minutes once they arrived. No drilling, no damage. Worth every penny at that hour.

All FAQsWhat areas in San Diego County do you service?
We service every city in San Diego County — coastal communities like Coronado, Del Mar, and Imperial Beach; North Coastal (Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas); North County Inland (Escondido, San Marcos, Poway, Fallbrook); East County (El Cajon, Santee, Alpine); South County (Chula Vista, Bonita, San Ysidro); and the backcountry (Julian, Borrego, Pine Valley). If you're in the county, we cover you.
How fast can you get to a lockout?
Typical arrival is 20 to 40 minutes from central dispatch. Central SD, Mission Valley, and North Coastal run 15 to 25 minutes most hours. Backcountry (Julian, Borrego) is a 60 to 90 minute run — we give you the honest ETA when you call, not a vague "as soon as possible".
How much does a locksmith cost?
Standard residential and automotive lockouts run $85 to $150 during the day, plus a $45 surcharge after 10pm. Rekeys are $25 to $40 per cylinder with a $29 service call (waived on 3+ locks). Car-key replacement runs $150 to $450 depending on whether it's a basic transponder, laser-cut, or smart proximity fob. We quote a firm price before we start.
Will you damage my lock to open it?
No. Standard residential and commercial deadbolts get picked or bumped open — no drilling. We only drill in two cases: high-security locks where picking would take longer than you want to wait, or locks that are already damaged. We explain the approach before we start, and if drilling is needed we quote the replacement cost up-front.
Are you licensed and bonded?
Yes. Swift Key San Diego operates under California BSIS locksmith licensing. Every tech is bonded and background-checked. We'll show our license on request — ask when we arrive.
